In a bid to promote education and alleviate challenges faced by children, APC chairmanship candidate for Katsina Local Government, Malam Isah Miqdad AD Saude, has launched an initiative to support primary school pupils.
Speaking at the event in Kambarawa, near Umaru Musa Yar’adua Airport, Malam Isah emphasized that the program is apolitical. “This is solely to assist children. If anyone thinks it’s political, they should note that these children are not even of voting age,” he stated, adding that the initiative was made possible with the support of prominent figures in Katsina.
Explaining the motivation behind the program, Isah said, “Our education committee identified the need to enhance learning and ease the burden on parents. Education is the foundation of societal development, and we urge everyone to join hands to support this cause.”
He expressed gratitude to supporters, including Alhaji Ido Kwado (Sarkin Aiki), Alhaji Musa Gafai, Alhaji Dahiru Danmarna, Alhaji Lolo Dakare, and Hon. Ali Abu Albaba, who contributed to the initiative.
The Chairman of the Education Committee, Malam Isma’il Tukur, detailed the program's impact, revealing that 1,000 primary school pupils from 24 schools across the 12 wards of Katsina Local Government benefited. They received books, school supplies, transportation stipends, and first aid kits distributed to each school.
At the secondary school level, scholarships covering tuition until graduation were awarded to 48 students, while 222 students from community schools were provided with learning materials and transportation aid.
Dr. Aminu Yusuf Tsauri, Chairman of the Katsina State Scholarship Board, commended the initiative, aligning it with the vision of Governor Dikko Umar Radda. He highlighted the board’s significant budget allocation for student support, including sponsoring overseas studies.
State legislator Hon. Ali Abu Albaba called on stakeholders to prioritize educational support, while prominent Katsina politician Alhaji Ido Kwado pledged continued backing for the initiative, describing it as a transformative opportunity for the community.
Organizations such as the Dikko Project, Lamido Foundation, and Gwagware Foundation also contributed, enhancing the program’s reach and addressing students' mobility challenges.
The event marked the third phase of Malam Isah’s educational support programs, reinforcing his commitment to building an educated and empowered community in Katsina Local Government.
